Glenn Youngkin attends the RNC with an unsuccessful track record and no achievements in Virginia.
Tonight, Glenn Youngkin is scheduled to address the Republican National Convention. DPVA Chairwoman Susan Swecker responded with the following statement:
"Just a few years ago, Republicans and the media hailed Youngkin as a 'rising star' in their party. Today, that praise has faded because he has not delivered any meaningful accomplishments as governor," said DPVA Chairwoman Susan Swecker. "Virginia voters decisively rejected his agenda to ban abortion by granting Democrats control of the state legislature in 2023. This signals a clear rejection of regressive Republican policies that would set our progress back generations, rather than moving us toward a brighter future."
As Youngkin is unlikely to address these points in his speech, we'd like to remind everyone of his record:
In 2023, Virginia voters rejected Youngkin's efforts to ban abortion by electing Democrats to full control of the General Assembly.
In March, Youngkin vetoed a bill aimed at increasing the minimum wage, crucial for thousands of Virginia families.
In April, he vetoed legislation that would have provided paid family medical leave to millions of hard-working Virginians.
In May, he vetoed a popular bill designed to safeguard access to birth control.
The NAACP filed a lawsuit against Youngkin after his administration failed to disclose public records explaining the criteria for restoring voting rights to felons who completed their sentences.
He pursued an unpopular and costly arena project that favored billionaires over working families, failing due to his refusal to collaborate with Democratic leaders.
He endorsed and campaigned for gubernatorial candidates who propagated Trump's false claims about the 2020 election, including Kari Lake and Tudor Dixon....See More
