Local news reports indicate that Julio Foolio, a Florida rapper, has tragically lost his life in a shooting at a hotel in Tampa, as confirmed by his attorney.

Florida rapper Julio Foolio was fatally shot in the parking lot of a Tampa hotel early Sunday morning, according to his lawyer, Lewis Fusco, who confirmed the tragic news to CBS News affiliate WTSP-TV in Tampa.

The incident occurred around 4:40 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Tampa North, where Tampa police responded to reports of a shooting involving two vehicles. Four individuals were struck by gunfire, as detailed by Tampa Police spokesperson Jonee Lewis during a press briefing.

One of the victims, initially believed to be Charles Jones, 26, awaits official identification by the medical examiner, but WTSP reports that Jones is Foolio's legal name.

Fusco informed WTSP that Foolio had traveled to Tampa to celebrate his birthday at an Airbnb but was asked to leave due to the presence of too many people. Subsequently, Foolio relocated to the Holiday Inn where, according to Fusco, he was ambushed.

Foolio, who boasts over 1 million Instagram followers, had been actively sharing his whereabouts and birthday celebrations on social media.

While hotel guests were not evacuated, police remained on-site to assist as needed, Lewis mentioned.

Authorities are urging anyone with videos or information related to the incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.

"If you saw something or heard something, any little detail can help us figure out what happened this morning," Lewis emphasized.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Tampa Police Department at (813) 231-6130.
