Ingrid Andress' performance of the national anthem at the 2024 Home Run Derby sparks online criticism

Country artist Ingrid Andress performed the national anthem at the July 15 Home Run Derby, marking the start of the MLB event at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. However, her rendition quickly gained notoriety online for its off-key moments.

"Andress, a four-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, delivered the 'Star-Spangled Banner' at the 2024 Home Run Derby, but her performance drew criticism on social media for missing several notes," Awful Announcing noted.

Viewers and sports commentators alike expressed their reactions on platforms like Twitter. Sports Illustrated's Alex Carr remarked, "I’m so sorry, I’m sure Ingrid Andress is a wonderful person, but that was one of the worst national anthems I think I’ve ever heard in my whole life."

Despite the critique, Andress has seen success with hits like "More Hearts Than Mine" and has been recognized with Grammy nominations. Her father, Brad Andress, has a sports background as a strength and conditioning coach for several teams.

CBS Sports reported on the incident, noting the swift deletion of ESPN's YouTube video featuring Andress' performance.....See More
