A whale emerged, causing a fishing boat to overturn off the coast of New Hampshire.
Two fishermen were rescued safely after a whale collided with and overturned their boat off the New Hampshire coast, as reported by the U.S. Coast Guard.
The incident occurred on Tuesday near Odiorne Point State Park in Rye. The fishermen, who had earlier spotted the whale and were trying to maintain a safe distance, were thrown into the water when the whale suddenly surfaced near their boat.
"He went under, disappeared for a few minutes, and then all of a sudden, he just popped right up on our transom," said fisherman Ryland Kenney to WMUR-TV.
The Coast Guard responded to a distress call reporting that a 23-foot (7-meter) center console boat had capsized due to a whale breaching.
"The occupants were thrown from the vessel during the capsizing," the Coast Guard reported, adding that an urgent marine information broadcast was issued and the Coast Guard Station Portsmouth Harbor was notified."The Coast Guard reported that a bystander rescued both individuals from the water unharmed," stated the Coast Guard.
The rescuers were revealed to be two young brothers.
"I saw it surface, and I immediately thought, 'Oh no, it's going to collide with the boat,'" recounted Wyatt Yager to the station. "Then it began to overturn." His brother, Colin Yager, captured the incident on his phone....See More
